| GCJ send-off celebration |
 |
|
We had a wonderful evening to celebrate GCJ's first
delegation embarking for Nigeria, and to
commemorate the 10th anniversary of the execution
of Nigerian Ken Saro-Wiwa.
It was great to meet each other's family and friends
and try out an African line dance together! The very
full program included a presentation by Susan and
Mary Ella on GCJ and the upcoming Nigeria journey;
a talk by expert Riki Ott on the dangers of
oil contamination/pollution; and a moving tribute to
Ken Saro-Wiwa by poet Dokubo Goodhead. We ended with a
rousing rendition of what has become our signature
Nigerian song: O se baba Oluwa
(Oh-shay-baba-oloo-ah). Thanks to everyone
who joined us for the historic, inaugural GCJ send-off.

The Nigeria delegation will try to send some "reports
from the field." If you're on one of our delegates'
distribution list, you will receive these by email.
If not, please check our web site home page over
the next few weeks, as we'll also be posting reports
there.
